In 2023, the Cemetery Committee at Beersheba voted to allocate the necessary funding to ground scan and map the cemetery, making it available to all in the form of a searchable, online website complete with pictures of headstones and a legend indicating veteran status. The ground scanning allowed the Committee to determine how many unmarked graves were located within the cemetery, which in turn allowed them to determine how many open plots remained in the cemetery.
Though once open to the public, remaining cemetery plots are currently available only to members of Beersheba Church.
The Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church became part of the Tombigbee Presbytery in 1825 and joined the New Hope Cumberland Presbytery in 1866. The cemetery was established in 1827 and contains the graves of many veterans. The date Beersheba Cumberland was organized is not known.
Regular maintenance and extensive projects similar to the online mapping and cataloging that we've recently completed wouldn't be possible without regular financial support from those who have loved ones buried in our cemetery. We thank our regular supporters and encourage new supporters to consider regular financial gifts. All gifts earmarked for cemetery support are used only for cemetery expenses.
